BUCKCHERRY singer Josh Todd says the only way to make a living in rock today is by being on stage.
In a new chat with Q102’s Randy Crews, Todd said the music industry has changed completely since he started 30 years ago.
He shared that rock radio is smaller now, streaming rules the scene, and record sales no longer matter.
Todd said albums are now more of a promo tool, with most income coming from touring and selling merchandise.
He added that streaming helps new fans discover BUCKCHERRY through playlists, bringing younger crowds to their shows.
Todd also agreed with Gene Simmons’s claim that rock’s glory days are gone, saying it’s harder to stand out without radio support.
He noted that people’s short attention spans make it tough for artists to get noticed online.
BUCKCHERRY’s latest album Roar Like Thunder came out in June, produced by Marti Frederiksen in Nashville.
