Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier has announced that he’s recovering from hand surgery and will have a stand-in guitarist for their next tour.
The French metal band will begin their run tomorrow night, November 27, at Reims Arena.
In an Instagram post, Duplantier said he injured his hand a few weeks ago and needed minor surgery.
He added that while he’s healing, he won’t be able to play all his parts on stage.
To help, the band has brought in Greg Kubacki from Car Bomb to fill in on guitar.
Duplantier shared an X-ray and a photo of his hand in a cast, saying the band’s spirits remain high. He is still expected to perform vocals on the tour.
The guitarist hopes to be fully recovered by next summer, when Gojira joins Metallica, Pantera, and Knocked Loose for a major European tour.
