During his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame speech, Jack White reflected on his journey with Meg White and their time in The White Stripes.
He credited Meg as his key partner in life and music, saying their bond felt like fate, or as he put it, “It was God.”
The pair first met while Meg worked at Memphis Smoke, where her sudden interest in drums sparked their musical partnership.
They were married before forming The White Stripes, and Jack even took Meg’s last name, which later inspired their band name.
White also spoke about his wide range of influences, naming artists like Fugazi, The Misfits, The Strokes, and Merle Haggard.
But he said the two artists every true music lover must respect are Bob Dylan and The Beatles.
In a past interview, White told NME, “Do not trust people who say they don’t like Bob Dylan or The Beatles.”
He added that real music fans understand how those two acts changed the world and inspired generations, including himself.
