Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has announced his latest project — a new video game called Kunoichi.
In an interview with Full Metal Jackie, Heafy said he’s teaming up with his friend Kendall to create the game, which will be a cyberpunk, futuristic side-scroller.
The four-person team includes Kendall as the creative director and story writer, while Heafy will compose the soundtrack.
The game follows a female warrior heroine and blends Japanese culture with a mix of metal, industrial, electronic, and traditional sounds.
Heafy said he’s been playing Japanese instruments himself for the game’s score. He called the experience “incredible” and said the demos have been exciting to see.
The project comes after Heafy worked on music for Deathgasm 2 and the True Believers comic.
Heafy said his focus now is fully on Trivium and Kunoichi, calling both “a dream come true.”
