Sheffield metal band Malevolence have climbed from wild club shows to the UK charts, hitting No. 32 with their new album “Where Only the Truth Is Spoken.”
The band said they aimed for a Top 10 but “got smoked by ABBA and Oasis,” drummer Charlie Thorpe joked.
Known for their wild mosh pits and heavy sound, Malevolence have been building their name for over 15 years.
They came up alongside Bring Me The Horizon and While She Sleeps, learning from both bands in Sheffield’s close metal scene.
Their early days were built on DIY work, recording and selling their own music through their label MLVLTD.
Now signed to Nuclear Blast, they still design merch and handle much of their business themselves.
The band recently played their biggest headline shows yet at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse and London’s Brixton Academy.
From chaotic practice rooms to sold-out halls, Malevolence have proven that Sheffield steel still runs strong in UK metal.
