TOOL bassist Justin Chancellor has confirmed that the band has been working on new music “on and off for a couple of years.”
In a new interview with The Australian, he said he was recently in the studio with drummer Danny Carey, coming up with new ideas.
Chancellor added that while fans often ask about new songs, TOOL doesn’t like to rush their creative process.
He explained that “art doesn’t really have a schedule” and that the band wants to make something they’re proud of.
The bassist also said their side projects help keep things fresh when they regroup.
TOOL is set to tour Australia for the first time since 2020, headlining the Good Things festival in December.
Their last album, Fear Inoculum, came out in 2019 and topped the Billboard 200 chart.
The band, formed in 1990, has released five albums and won four Grammy Awards.
