TMZ has shared new information about the death of LIMP BIZKIT bassist Sam Rivers, who passed away on October 18 at age 48.
A spokesperson for St. Johns County Fire Rescue in Florida said they responded to a call about a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest” that day.
The Sheriff’s Office also confirmed deputies arrived for an “attended death,” meaning Rivers had been under medical care for a serious illness.
Rivers, born in Jacksonville in 1977, helped form LIMP BIZKIT in 1994 with Fred Durst and John Otto.
He left the band in 2015 due to liver problems caused by alcohol abuse and later received a liver transplant.
In a past interview, Rivers said doctors told him he would die if he didn’t stop drinking.
He returned to the band in 2018 and stayed until his passing.
His bandmates paid tribute, calling him “our brother, our heartbeat, and pure magic.”
